A lovely topic, isn't it? Well, for those of us who are of the larger sort and are non-operative or pre-operative genderqueer female bodied masculines or transmen, summer months can be a pain when it comes to binding.
Folds of flesh sweat; sweat gets rashy; rashes can easily breed yeast.
So, how can we bind and stay healthy?
Number 1 is be honest and open with health care professionals. Sometimes those yeasty beasties need to be attacked with steroids and prescription strength creams and pills.
Number two is stay dry...not with starches, powders, or deodorant...all of that provides food for yeast. Put little pieces of tshirt or an actual tshirt in the folds of your skin. Binders are made of materials that don't absorb moisture; a nice cotton shirt will keep you clean and dry.
There are also products sold for cooling under the breasts. Pads of a sort.
You need to stay out of your binder as often as possible in the hot summer months, too. When home, take opportunities to be naked or in loose-fitting garments that allow your skin to breathe. You can even dry your folds of skin with a hair dryer if you need.
Take care of your skin and be aware of the yeasty beasties!
