B.C. and A.D.

Kentucky religious debate flares again. The Ten Commandments monument has not yet been replaced, and now Gov. Ernie Fletcher says he would like public schools to use C.E. insetead of A.D. and B.C.E. instead of B.C. Lisa Gross, a spokeswoman for the Kentucky Department of Education, says that a teacher guidebook for the state is in revision right now and in its current form recommends C.E. and B.C.E. but that before it is finalized it might suggest all four. THE DEBATE IS OPEN! (http://www.kentucky.com/mld/kentucky/news/local/14310322.htm)

B.C. stands for Before Christ. B.C.E. would mean Before the Common Era. A.D. stands for Anno Domini, Latin for the year of Our Lord. C.E. would mean Common Era. Kentucky has not discovered the debate, they've only just joined it. Religious groups have already done much to discuss the issue. Religious Tolerance.org has summarized much of what has come before on their website.

I think that America should use Euros as currency and should measure with the metric system, but I think that our time should be recorded with B.C. and A.D.

Have an opinion? Make it count. Especially if your politicians are involved. Especially if it affects your child's schooling.
